The Total Racing Products Fuel Pump Speed Control Harness gives owners of our Ultimate Fuel Pump Hardwire Kit the ability to retain the factory high, medium, and low fuel pump speed functionality controlled by the OEM Fuel Pump Control Module, or FPCM.

Our Ultimate Hardwire Kit was intentionally designed to bypass the factory FPCM and supply the fuel pumps with full battery voltage. Based on our experience with the R35 GTR platform, we continue to recommend this configuration when possible. Asking an aging OEM FPCM to PWM control large aftermarket fuel pumps that draw considerably more current than the original pumps can shorten the life of the module.

However, we understand that some combinations benefit from retaining fuel pump speed control.

This is especially common when installing high output pumps such as a DW430 or Walbro 450 into the restrictive factory fuel pump hanger. With full battery voltage, the factory hanger may struggle to return enough fuel and create elevated base fuel pressure. Customers using properly designed aftermarket hangers such as Radium or Fore Innovations generally do not experience this issue in our testing.

ENGINEERED DIFFERENTLY

Simply retaining the factory FPCM isn’t difficult. Doing it correctly is where the difference lies.

Some competing hardwire kits retain fuel pump speed control while continuing to rely on undersized factory wiring in areas carrying the increased current demands of large aftermarket pumps.

We weren’t interested in doing that.

Just like the Ultimate Hardwire Kit itself, this harness is constructed entirely from TXL automotive wire. The primary fuel pump feed and supply circuits use 10 gauge TXL wire, while the jumper and control connections use 16 gauge TXL wire.

We did not see a reason to install large aftermarket fuel pumps, upgrade the wiring everywhere else in the system, then leave undersized wiring in the circuit simply because it was convenient.

Proper wire sizing matters. Voltage drop matters. Current capacity matters. When you’re dealing with the fuel system on a high horsepower car, every part of the electrical path deserves the same attention.

That’s another area where our design differs from “the other guys”.

We also took the time to identify and manufacture the correct mating connectors necessary to create a clean, purpose built solution. No hacked factory wiring, no unnecessary adapters, and no Mickey Mouse setup added just to retain pump speed control.

The TRP Fuel Pump Speed Control Harness plugs directly between the factory harness and FPCM, then interfaces with the Ultimate Hardwire Kit using two dedicated 2-pin connectors.

No cutting.

No splicing.

No guessing.

Just properly sized wiring, the correct connectors, and a clean installation.

INSTALLATION

Installation is simple:

1. Unplug the factory vehicle harness from the FPCM.
2. Install the TRP Fuel Pump Speed Control Harness between the factory harness and FPCM.
3. Connect the 2 pin connector labeled Hardwire (1) to the corresponding connector labeled 1 on the hardwire side.
4. Connect the 2 pin connector labeled Pump (1) to the corresponding connector on the pump side.

Installation complete.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

TRP still recommends bypassing the OEM FPCM and supplying the fuel pumps with full battery voltage whenever the fuel system configuration allows it.

We developed this harness specifically for customers who want to retain factory fuel pump speed control, particularly those utilizing the factory fuel pump hanger with larger aftermarket pumps and experiencing elevated base fuel pressure.

In our testing, properly designed aftermarket hangers such as Radium and Fore Innovations provide sufficient return capacity without requiring pump speed reduction.

Fuel delivery is one of the least forgiving areas of a high horsepower build. Our recommendation remains to use a properly engineered aftermarket fuel pump hanger when the demands of your build exceed the capabilities of the factory assembly.
