We’ve already tested the TRP Pro Series Ignition System on a VQ37VHR producing over 1,100 wheel horsepower. During testing, the vehicle was experiencing ignition misfires as a result of exceeding the capabilities of the factory ignition coils. After installing our Pro Series Ignition System, the misfires were eliminated, even at this extreme power level.

This wasn’t simply a case of installing upgraded ignition coils on an engine that was already running perfectly. We pushed the factory ignition system beyond its limits, identified its shortcomings, and demonstrated that our ignition system could resolve the problem.

Not Just for High Horsepower Builds!

While our Pro Series Ignition System has already proven itself on applications exceeding 1,100 WHP, you don’t need a four digit horsepower build to benefit from improved ignition performance.

Consistent ignition is important at every power level, whether your VQ37VHR is completely stock, naturally aspirated with bolt on modifications, or equipped with a turbocharger or supercharger.

Installation and Tuning

The TRP Pro Series Ignition System installs in the factory ignition coil locations. Minor fitment adjustments or tweaking may be necessary during installation to achieve proper seating. This is normal and should be expected.

EcuTek Tuning: No changes to ignition dwell settings are required.

Aftermarket Engine Management: For ECUs that support adjustable ignition dwell settings, the following settings can be used as a starting point.

Recommended Ignition Settings

Spark Edge: Falling Edge

Dwell Mode: Constant Charge

Note: Proper ignition performance depends on spark plug condition, plug gap, engine calibration, and operating conditions. As with any ignition system upgrade, verify proper installation and operation before subjecting the engine to high loads.
