Monitor your turbocharger shaft speed directly through your R35 GTR’s factory ECU with the Total Racing Products Turbo Shaft Speed Monitoring Kit. Designed specifically for R35 GTRs equipped with Garrett G-Series and G-Series-style turbochargers in the factory turbo location, this kit provides a simple, plug and play solution for monitoring turbo shaft speed without the need for a proprietary gauge, standalone ECU, or complicated custom wiring.
Compatible with R35 GTRs utilizing EcuTek! Our kit allows turbo shaft speed to be monitored and logged through the factory ECU using a rear O2 sensor input. For vehicles utilizing EcuTek, we recommend tuning with EcuTek RaceROM 8 to take advantage of the rear O2 inputs for sensor inputs.
This kit is compatible with Garrett G-Series and G-Series II turbochargers, as well as G-Series style turbochargers from manufacturers such as Pulsar, utilizing 9-blade compressor wheels.
Our kit includes a plug and play wiring harness designed to connect to a genuine Garrett G-Series Turbo Speed Sensor (P/N 781328-0004). The harness interfaces with the factory rear O2 sensor connector for power and signal output and connects to our TRP Turbo Shaft Speed Monitoring Module using a DT6-style connector.
The included harness is manufactured to the appropriate length to allow installation on either bank of the R35 GTR, giving you the flexibility to monitor turbo shaft speed on either side of the engine. For turbo kits that support speed sensors on both turbochargers, two kits can be installed to independently monitor and log turbo shaft speed on both banks.
The TRP Turbo Shaft Speed Monitoring Module receives 12V power, supplies the required 5V power to the turbo speed sensor, and converts the sensor’s digital signal into a linear 0.5V to 4.5V analog output. This allows turbo shaft speed to be monitored and logged through EcuTek on the factory ECU or through a compatible standalone engine management system.

ATTENTION TUNERS
The TRP Turbo Shaft Speed Monitoring Module converts the turbo speed sensor’s digital signal into a linear analog voltage output using the following calibration:
- 0.5V = 35,000 RPM
- 4.5V = 200,000 RPM
The ECU must be configured to interpret this voltage range correctly for accurate turbo shaft speed monitoring and datalogging.
For R35 GTRs utilizing EcuTek, we recommend EcuTek RaceROM 8 to enable the use of the factory rear O2 sensor inputs for turbo shaft speed monitoring. When installing two kits, each turbocharger must be configured on its respective rear O2 input map to allow independent monitoring and datalogging of both turbochargers.
Refer to the screenshot below to see how we setup one of these kits to read on a Custom Map A while the kit was plugged into the vehicle’s Bank 1 Rear O2 connector:
Important: Garrett G-Series Turbo Speed Sensors typically do not begin generating a readable speed signal until the turbocharger reaches sufficient shaft speed, generally when the engine begins producing positive boost pressure. No turbo speed reading at idle is normal and does not indicate a problem with the sensor or monitoring module.
Compatibility Note: This kit is designed for turbochargers utilizing 9-blade compressor wheels and compatible Garrett G-Series style speed sensor provisions. It is not calibrated for turbochargers utilizing other compressor blade counts.
Not all wiring is created equally. We use TXL wire featuring XLPE insulation that is heat, flame, gasoline, grease, and acid resistant and is used in extreme temperature applications of -40°F to 257°F!
